Abstract

The Koha ILS software is used in Greece for nearly a decade. The majority of the libraries using Koha were mostly libraries with rather small collections (school, public, college libraries). In 2015 three great academic libraries (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Macedonia, and University of Patras) entered the Koha community by transitioning their catalogs from commercial ILSs to Koha. During the transition process, issues regarding local practices emerged.

Users’ groups are a common way users may share experience, ideas and solve common problems. Our proposal for creating the Koha Greek Users’ Group is submitted within the scope of enabling collaboration between Greek libraries using Koha. To secure success of this initiative, we have created a list of issues regarding the creation of a users’ group, as well as a list of endeavours that the new Koha Greek Users’ Group could undertake.

We invite other Greek Koha users and members from other users’s groups to watch our presentation and participate in the discussion that will follow. We hope that this discussion will be fruitful and will serve as the starting point of the Koha Greek Users’ Group.
